Principles of Design Firm Management

This is an excerpt from Professional Practices in Graphic Design.

Professional design firms present unusual organizational and management challenges. How do we support something as intangible as creativity? How do we stabilize something in constant motion? What sort of valid comparisons can be made between things that are unique? How can personal needs and business needs overlap to a great extent yet not be identical? What happens when we have to make a decision that’s good for the business but perhaps not for us personally? Each creative organization must meet these challenges in its own way. Organizing and nurturing a design studio means not only challenging, motivating, and re-warding the individual staff members, but also perceiving and meeting the needs of the firm itself, while maintaining a strong and consistent client orientation.

A few of the articles on your site have a link to PDF's and most don't work. They just redirect me to the home page in a new window. I would love to read more!
