About Johnny Cupcakes
At the age of 19 Johnny created a multi-million dollar, homegrown, unique t-shirt brand that embraces one’s independence without the use of advertisement and outside venture capital.

Johnny will touch upon topics such as: starting a business (both web based & retail), marketing and branding, acquiring a passionate following, personalizing his business, why customers camp out for days to purchase his products, inspiration and how it continues to lead to his success, art and graphic design as it applies to his business, creating a unique shopping environment, word of mouth through viral marketing, developing a fun and healthy working environment, living and promoting a substance-free lifestyle, and more. Johnny’s keynote speaker appearances have proved to and continue to inspire both students and faculty alike.

About Youth Design Boston
Youth Design Boston is a unique summer mentorship program that introduces inner-city high school students to careers in the design profession by providing high-quality, paying design internships in Boston-area design firms, agencies, and in-house design departments. The program was founded by Denise Korn and is run in partnership with the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Boston chapter, and Boston’s Private Industry Council (PIC), which organizes the private sector component of Mayor Menino’s Summer Jobs Campaign.

For Boston high school students with a creative interest, these internships open up a new world of opportunity and give them insight, greater skills, and a positive perspective on the possibility of a fulfilling career avenue. Since the program was piloted, we have graduated 35 students, with a high percentage deciding to pursue college-level focus in art and design. This past summer we expanded our reach, launching Youth Design in Denver and Rhode Island, and have received national recognition. We welcome your interest and support of the program in whatever form that may take!
